Praful Desai

For nearly sixty years, the desire to do something deeply meaningful—preserving our Bharatiya traditions and Vedic wisdom—has taken root within me. DDC is the fruition of that lifelong aspiration.

The period of quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic offered me a rare opportunity for self-reflection and to begin realizing plans shaped by over three decades of Swadhyaya, inspired by the teachings of Revered Pandurang Shastri Athavale (Dadaji) and the blessings of many saints, including Swami Shivananda of the Divine Life Society, Swami Krishnananda, Pujya Nana- a Saint from my village, Jayashree Talwalkar (Didi), Shiva Kathakar Shri Batukbhai Vyas, among others.

  • Since 2013, my involvement in rebuilding the Sanatan Mandir in Atlanta has enabled me to serve as a priest, conducting Hindu ceremonies such as Satyanarayan Katha, various Archanas, weddings, Grah-pravesh, and more. Through these experiences, I have observed a disconnect: many identify as spiritual but not religious, or as Hindus without active practice, while others embrace a nationalistic or narrow interpretation of Hinduism, lacking a deeper understanding of our Vedic spiritual heritage. These realizations inspired the creation of DDC

With DDC my goal is to foster a true appreciation of our heritage—its vastness and relevance in everyday life—while expanding our intellectual and spiritual horizons, deepening our connection to nature and one another, and helping each of us fulfill our life’s purpose.

As a member of my adopted country -USA, I also hope to help guide the next generation of leaders, nurturing a renewed moral compass so that our society becomes more just, equitable, compassionate, and a beacon of human dignity.

This endeavor is dedicated to my parents, Ishwarlal D. Desai and Shantabehn I. Desai, whose values continue to inspire and guide me.
